Survivor Shares Impactful Story of Columbine High School Mass Shooting in New Podcast

Littleton, Colorado marks 25 years since the tragic events of the infamous Columbine High School mass shooting, where the lives of 12 students and a teacher were taken. The library became the epicenter of the horrific attack, forever changing the lives of those present, like survivor Craig Scott, who vividly recalls the horror and chaos he experienced that day while hiding under a desk in the library as the gunmen took innocent lives.

Despite the trauma and tragedy he witnessed, Scott miraculously survived and has since traveled the country sharing his sister’s story. Rachel Joy Scott was the first victim slain in the rampage, along with 11 other students and teacher Dave Sanders, who heroically sacrificed his life to save others.

Since that fateful day, Scott has found healing through faith, forgiveness, and sharing inspirational stories. He has dedicated himself to spreading a message of hope and positivity, highlighting the impact of kindness and compassion in the face of darkness.

Another survivor, Krista Hanley, revealed the lingering trauma and PTSD she continues to battle, along with the survivor’s guilt that weighs heavy on her heart. Despite the challenges she faces, Hanley has become an advocate for self-defense and safety, founding We Are Safer Together to empower others and enhance security measures for vulnerable communities.

Former Columbine High School principal, Frank DeAngelis, also grapples with survivor’s guilt but credits counseling for helping him cope with the aftermath of the shooting. He recalls the moment his worst nightmare became a reality as he confronted the gunmen and witnessed the heroic actions of teacher Dave Sanders who saved countless lives that day.

Through acts of bravery, compassion, and resilience, survivors of the Columbine High School shooting continue to navigate the lasting impact of that tragic day, finding strength in unity, advocacy, and the unwavering belief that there is hope amidst the darkness.
