Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Woman on North Street in New Britain

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a 44-year-old woman and the injury of two others on Saturday night, the police announced on Sunday morning. Antoine Harris, 44, who was living at the residence where the incident occurred, has been apprehended and faces multiple charges related to the shooting.

The victim, Sabrina Finch, 44, was found dead inside the North Street apartment. Harris has been charged with murder, two counts of first-degree assault, criminal use of a weapon, and criminal possession of a pistol. He is being held on $1.8 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Deputy Police Chief Adam Rembisz revealed that the shooter had a “dating relationship” with the victim and had previously lived at the residence. After the shooting, the shooter fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement officers. Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other victims were taken to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition.

Rembisz assured the public that this was not a random act of violence and that there is no known danger to the community. State police and the state attorney’s office are collaborating with local officers to investigate the shooting.
