The incident took place on May 5 at approximately 11:05 p.m. when officers were called to the 700 block of West William Cannon Drive in response to a Check Welfare call regarding a man who was found bleeding.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. According to investigators, the victim had recently arrived at an apartment complex with another individual when he was shot by an unidentified assailant who fled the scene.
