Teenage Boy Killed in Drive-By Shooting on University Drive in Miramar

Miramar, Florida – Miramar Police have identified the 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting on University Drive, leaving his girlfriend critically injured on Sunday night.

The shooting occurred at around 7:52 PM on the 3600 block of S. University Drive. The victims, both 17 years old, were sitting inside a white Hyundai Sonata when someone in another car started shooting at them. The boyfriend, identified as Johnnie Henderson, did not survive his injuries, while his girlfriend is expected to survive.

Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues stated that it is too early to speculate about the motive behind the shooting and that they do not know if the couple was the intended target. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to assist in apprehending those responsible for the attack.

The police have not released the identity of Henderson’s girlfriend, and they also do not have a description of the shooter or the vehicle from which the shots were fired. This tragic incident has left the community in shock, with Rues emphasizing the lack of regard for human life, given that the victims were just 17 years old.
