Teenage Girl Sentenced to 35 Years for Murder of Florida College Student

Birmingham, Alabama – A teenager has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder, kidnapping, and robbery of a Florida college student. Yasmine Marie Hider pleaded guilty to the crimes she committed in October, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Adam Simjee.

The tragic incident occurred when Simjee and his girlfriend, Mikayla Paulus, stopped to help Hider jump-start her car in the Talladega National Forest in Alabama. After failed attempts to fix the vehicle, Hider pulled out a gun and demanded the couple empty their pockets and walk into the forest. Paulus threw her phone and car keys on the ground, but Simjee revealed he had a hidden gun and managed to defend himself when Hider looked away.

Despite being shot multiple times, Hider survived and was implicated in the crime by 37-year-old Krystal Pinkins, who provided the car and the murder weapon. Pinkins received a life sentence after being convicted of murder, kidnapping, and robbery. Hider had claimed Pinkins was nearby during the crime and had come up with the idea of robbing a motorist.

The plea agreement revealed chilling details, with Hider admitting to recording herself asking for the couple’s banking information and phone passwords. She also inquired about Simjee’s condition while being treated in the hospital, expressing remorse for her actions.

The tragic outcome has left a lasting impact on the victim’s family and serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of senseless violence. Authorities hope the sentencing of both Hider and Pinkins will bring a sense of justice and closure to the victim’s loved ones.
