Tennessee woman’s body found inside burning refrigerator after boyfriend killed her and tried to hide the evidence

LIVINGSTON, TN – A 49-year-old man has been taken into custody after authorities say he murdered his girlfriend and left her body in a burning refrigerator along a rural road.

Edward Randolph faces charges of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of 47-year-old Hope Parrott, whose remains were discovered on July 31. The case is under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Overton County Sheriff’s Office after a disturbing discovery east of Nashville.

The investigation began in the early hours of July 31, when a woman called 911 to report a fire near Sunk Cane Road, a remote stretch in Overton County. Responding deputies arrived to find a refrigerator engulfed in flames at the base of an embankment, visible from the roadway.

Once the fire was contained, authorities opened the refrigerator to reveal human remains inside. Detectives worked to identify the victim and soon learned Parrott’s family had reported her missing weeks earlier, on July 5. Relatives told investigators that Parrott had not been in contact for several days, which was out of character for her. They also shared concerns that she had been considering leaving her boyfriend, Randolph.

Following a joint investigation, authorities determined that Parrott’s body had been placed inside the refrigerator, which was then set on fire and discarded where it was found. Officials have not yet released a definitive cause of death.

Evidence gathered at the scene and from Parrott’s personal life soon pointed to Randolph as the primary suspect. After being questioned, he was arrested and processed at the Overton County Jail.

As of Friday, Randolph remained in custody without bond, according to jail officials. His court proceedings are pending as investigators continue to examine the full circumstances of Parrott’s death.

The case has unsettled the small community east of Nashville, where violent crime is relatively rare. Local authorities are urging anyone with further information to come forward as the investigation is ongoing.

Family members of Parrott are left mourning her loss, while investigators work to piece together the events leading up to her death. Officials have indicated that more details could emerge as the case progresses and additional forensic analysis is completed.

The Overton County Sheriff’s Office and TBI are collaborating closely as they search for answers in a case that has drawn significant attention and concern.
