Terrifying Threat in Uttar Pradesh: Woman Allegedly Vows to Dismember Husband in Chilling Echo of Meerut Crime

GONDA, India — In a disturbing echo of past crimes, a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district allegedly threatened to kill her husband and dispose of his body by dismembering it and placing it in a drum, a method reminiscent of a notorious murder case in Meerut. The chilling threat was part of an ongoing domestic conflict that has captured local attention and raised serious concerns about violence and personal safety.

The incident, which was brought to light through a video that went viral on social media, involves Dharmendra Kushwaha, a junior engineer at Jal Nigam in Gonda, and his wife Maya Maurya, along with her alleged lover, Neeraj Maurya. According to police reports, the discord has escalated into threats and physical assaults, prompting police intervention and an ongoing investigation.

The couple, who married for love in 2016, seemed to have a storybook start with the birth of a daughter shortly thereafter. Kushwaha, in a gesture of affection and trust, registered three vehicles and later, a piece of land in Maya’s name, even contracting her relative, Neeraj Maurya, to oversee the construction of their house. However, the relationship began to sour as Maya and Neeraj reportedly grew closer, especially after Neeraj’s wife passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The situation between Maya and her husband deteriorated rapidly after Kushwaha allegedly caught Maya and Neeraj in a compromising situation in July 2024. When he confronted them, he claims to have been beaten by the duo. The confrontation led Maya to leave the marital home. She returned briefly in August with Neeraj, during which Kushwaha alleges they broke into the home and stole a gold chain and cash.

Legal complexities increased when, in March 2025, Maya reportedly threatened to not only kill Dharmendra but also harm his mother. During this altercation, she evoked the Meerut murder case, infamously known for the brutal way the bodies were disposed of. This particular remark led to heightened police involvement, with officers taking statements and reviewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

In her defense, Maya has accused her husband of harassment, alleging he forced her to undergo multiple abortions and subjected her to physical abuse which peaked in July 2024, after which she sought help from the women’s police station. She claims his continuous abusive behavior led to their eventual estrangement and his filing for divorce.

The Senior House Officer at Kotwali Police Station, Vivek Trivedi, confirmed that the couple’s tumultuous relationship has resulted in multiple legal proceedings. With various allegations from both parties, the community and local authorities are deeply concerned about the potential for further violence.

This case highlights not only the personal tragedy of a disintegrating family but also the broader issues of domestic abuse and the societal pressures that often keep such situations hidden until they reach a critical and sometimes violent tipping point. As the investigation continues, local officials emphasize the importance of addressing domestic threats seriously to prevent escalation and ensure community safety.
