Texas Man Goes on Daylong Shooting Rampage, Leaving Six Dead and Two Police Officers Injured

A 34-year-old man in Texas has been arrested after a shooting rampage that resulted in six deaths and three injuries, including two police officers in Austin and San Antonio. The suspect, Shane James, is accused of multiple shootings and is expected to face additional charges, according to authorities.

The daylong rampage began when James allegedly shot an Austin Independent School District police officer at Northeast Early College High School. The officer was shot in the leg, and the suspect fled the scene. Later, calls were made to the police reporting more shootings at different locations in the area, leaving two more dead and one injured.

The shootings are believed to be connected, and the suspect has been identified as the sole perpetrator. The victims include the suspect’s parents, who were found dead in San Antonio. Investigators believe the suspect killed his parents before making the 80-mile drive to Austin, where the crime spree took place.

The suspect, who served as a U.S. Army infantry officer, has been charged with two counts of murder and is currently in jail without bond as the investigation continues. Authorities have expressed their condolences to the victims and their families, as they work to determine the motive behind the shootings and the connections between the suspect and the victims.

The officer who was shot during the rampage is in stable condition, and the injured bystander is expected to survive. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more information comes to light.
