Texas man shot by wife who warned him not to lay a hand on her

BRIDGEPORT, TX – A quiet night erupted into violence in a residential neighborhood of Bridgeport, leaving a man dead and his wife facing a murder charge after a confrontation that turned fatal.

Authorities responded to a home on Sunday night after receiving a call reporting a shooting. Inside, police discovered 46-year-old Michael C. Thomas with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman who lived there, Sandy Micheal Williams, 45, met officers at the door and was immediately taken into custody.

According to court records, what began as a heated argument between Williams and Thomas escalated into a physical altercation. Williams told investigators her husband grabbed her by the ponytail and pulled her to the floor. In the aftermath of the struggle, Thomas headed upstairs, but Williams said she followed, now armed with a firearm.

As the police pieced together the sequence of events, Williams revealed to investigators that she had previously warned Thomas about the consequences if he ever physically assaulted her. When questioned further, she said she had meant every word—that she would ensure it never happened again.

Williams did not shy away from the gravity of her actions. During an interview at the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, she indicated that she had fully intended for the confrontation to end as it did. Investigators said Williams admitted to shooting Thomas with the intent for it to be final, expressing that she hoped the results would be as they were.

The case quickly moved from investigation to apprehension. Williams was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder. Authorities noted her cooperation as she was transported to jail.

The incident has stunned neighbors in the usually peaceful Wise County community, with many expressing disbelief that such violence could unfold so close to home. The couple, married for three years, had reportedly experienced tensions before, but those who knew them said no one expected such a tragic end.

Meanwhile, Thomas’s father was the one who placed the emergency call Sunday night, providing details that led officers to the home. The emotional impact on the family and community remains palpable as law enforcement continues to process the scene and gather additional evidence.

As the legal process unfolds, Williams remains in Wise County Jail on a $50,000 bond. No date has been set for her next court appearance. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing.
