Thanksgiving Holiday Road Traffic Accidents Lead to Fatality Numbers Across the Nation

THOMASVILLE, Georgia – Over the Thanksgiving holiday, a series of road traffic accidents occurred throughout the United States, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. Georgia reported 21 fatalities, California reported four deaths and nine injuries, and Maryland reported two injuries as a result of these tragic incidents.

First responders from different states worked tirelessly to manage the aftermath of these accidents. Georgia officials are currently investigating the multiple accidents which resulted in the 21 fatalities and several injuries. One of the fatal crashes in Thomasville on Thanksgiving Day resulted in the death of five individuals, with another fatality reported on Saturday. Additionally, single fatalities were reported in various counties across Georgia. The California Highway Patrol reported a rollover crash in South Park, California, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and one injury. Meanwhile, two children were in critical condition and seven others sustained injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Sacramento County. In Maryland, two individuals were hospitalized, and Thanksgiving travel faced disruption when a 10-car pileup caused four lanes to be closed on a highway on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier this month, AAA stated that approximately 55.4 million people were anticipated to embark on road trips over the Thanksgiving break. The holiday travel period, which started on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. ET, runs until Nov. 26 at 11:59 p.m. ET. With the holiday travel period still ongoing, these numbers may continue to fluctuate.
