Tornado Devastation Strikes Logan County, Ohio: Three Dead and Many Injured

LOGAN COUNTY, Ohio – Tragedy struck Logan County, Ohio, as a storm and an EF-3 tornado wreaked havoc, leaving three people dead and several others injured. The tornado, confirmed by the National Weather Service, tore through the area, causing significant damage to structures and impacting the communities of Lakeview and Russells Point near the southern end of Indian Lake.

Sheriff Randall Dodds of Logan County reported the devastating loss of three lives and numerous injuries, with search and rescue operations being carried out tirelessly. The victims’ names and ages have not been released to the public yet. Mary Rutan Hospital in Logan County received 19 patients in the ER with weather-related injuries, all consisting of bone fractures and concussions.

Witnesses described the aftermath of the tornado, with windows blown out of buildings and poles piercing through roofs in the affected areas. The storm struck after 8 p.m., catching many residents off guard. In response to the disaster, a shelter was opened for those displaced by the destructive force of the tornado.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expressed deep sadness over the impact of the tornado and severe storms, emphasizing the need for unity and support within the community to rebuild and recover from the devastation. DeWine commended the efforts of first responders and volunteers who quickly mobilized to aid those affected by the natural disaster.

DeWine assured the affected individuals that the state would provide necessary resources and support, working closely with the state legislature to facilitate the recovery process for neighborhoods and businesses. Despite the destruction witnessed in Indian Lake, DeWine remained optimistic, stating that the resilient community would come back stronger from the tragedy.
