Toronto Mother’s Balcony Fall & Children’s Deaths Prompt Suspicion After Husband’s Recent Passing

Toronto, Ontario – A tragic incident has struck a Toronto family as a mother’s fall from her sixth-floor balcony was soon followed by the discovery of her two young boys dead in their Scarborough apartment. Neighbours have confirmed that the mother had recently posted a fundraiser seeking help after her husband died of complications from cancer.

The boys, known as Yiannis and Mimi in the fundraiser, were found without vital signs inside the locked apartment on Sunday night. The cause of their deaths is still unknown, but police have described the deaths as suspicious. Acting Insp. Terry Browne of the homicide squad stated that the mother’s fall from the balcony “likely was not accidental.”

Neighbors confirmed the family’s identities through pictures posted on a GoFundMe page and an obituary on Facebook. The fundraiser detailed the sudden death of the husband from “aggressive” leukemia and sepsis, leaving the mother in the challenging role of being a single parent.

The boys, aged five and four, were pronounced dead in the hospital after being found unresponsive in their apartment. The mother was found outside after falling from the balcony and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. She underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Further investigation is ongoing as police have not confirmed the identities of the family. The community has been left in shock, describing the family as a good, fun-loving one. Police remain at the building as the investigation continues.
