The incident occurred on the tracks approximately a quarter-mile north of Main Street around 11:30 p.m. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the event, including whether the individual was crossing the tracks or if he was on the tracks intentionally. The Sebastian Police Department has also indicated they are looking into the possibility of intoxication.
As of June 6, the identity of the deceased had yet to be disclosed. This tragic event marks the second fatality involving Brightline trains on the Treasure Coast in 2023 and the fifth reported incident on the line this year.
