CLAY COUNTY, Miss. — A tragic series of shootings has left a community reeling after three adults and a child were slain in a shocking incident involving family members. The alleged gunman, 24-year-old Daricka Moore, stands accused of killing her relatives in a violent rampage that unfolded in multiple locations.
Family members expressed their disbelief and heartache as they grappled with the loss. “I was really shocked about it; I could not believe that he got killed,” said Virsie Jennings, whose brother was among the victims. Kimberly Moore, another relative, echoed the sentiment, noting the overwhelming sense of sorrow enveloping the family.
Local law enforcement reports indicate that Moore is charged with killing 67-year-old Glenn Moore, 55-year-old Willie Guines, and 33-year-old Quinten Moore at a residence on David Hill Road. All three men were relatives of the accused. Authorities say that after the shootings, Moore allegedly stole her cousin Quinten’s Ford F-150.
The situation escalated further when Moore is suspected of driving to another location, where she forced her way into a home and reportedly attempted to sexually assault an individual. During this incident, a seven-year-old girl—who also was her cousin—was fatally shot.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott described the crisis as one of the most challenging cases he has encountered in nearly three decades of service. “We all lift our hearts in prayer for the victims’ families,” he remarked. Investigators discovered the stolen truck behind a home on Siloam Griffith Road, where they found the bodies of 39-year-old Barry Bradley and his brother, 41-year-old Samuel Bradley, showing signs of forced entry.
The motive behind the horrific events remains unclear, and it has been reported that the suspect had no prior interactions with law enforcement. In light of the tragedy, Kimberly Moore urged families to check on their loved ones, emphasizing that signs of mental distress should not be ignored. “It was just a family dispute,” she said. “We are asking for prayer.”
Moore has been charged with first-degree murder, and legal experts anticipate that the charges will likely be escalated to capital murder, with additional charges possible in the future. The case underscores the broader issues surrounding gun violence in the community.
