BUCKSNORT, Tenn. — A devastating explosion at an explosives manufacturer near Nashville on Friday has resulted in multiple fatalities and left several individuals missing. The incident occurred at Accurate Energetic Systems in Hickman County, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

Authorities with the Hickman County Sheriff’s Office reported that several individuals lost their lives in the explosion, and as of now, efforts are underway to locate those still unaccounted for. Initially, it was believed that 19 people were missing, though one individual has since been located safe, with others receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during the blast.

Emergency responders are actively working at the scene, which Sheriff Chris Davis described as “massive” and unprecedented. The facility, established in 1980, specializes in the development, manufacturing, and storage of high-quality energetic products for both defense and commercial use. A prior expansion announcement in 2020 indicated plans to create 80 new jobs at the site, which covers 1,300 acres in both Humphreys and Hickman counties.
