Triple Death Investigation Unfolds in Richmond Residence

Richmond, Kentucky – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is currently probing a tragic incident involving three individuals who lost their lives at a single residence in Richmond. Chief Deputy Tony Terry shared that deputies responded to a call for assistance from Madison County EMS on Elmwood Drive just before 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that Sherry Hammerle, 47, and Evonne Hammerle, 39, both residents of Richmond, had passed away after being rushed to Baptist Health Richmond. Additionally, Ben Masters was found deceased in the same location on Elmwood Drive.

Although the circumstance of three deaths in one household at the same time is uncommon, Chief Deputy Terry assured the public that the Sheriff’s Office is diligently pursuing all leads. The initial investigation, pending a toxicology analysis, indicates a possible overdose as the cause of the deaths.

Investigations into this heartbreaking event are being handled by Madison County Sheriff’s Office Detective Josh Horn and the team from Madison County Sheriff’s Office Investigations.
