Sheriff Byron Swilley revealed that the Wesson truck stop fell victim to a robbery around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. During the robbery, a suspect targeted and carjacked 60-year-old Vincent Ratliff, ultimately resulting in a fatal shooting. Ratliff was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Sheriff Swilley reported that Ratliff’s stolen vehicle was later discovered a short distance away from the truck stop. A manager from the truck stop disclosed that Ratliff, a regular patron at the buffet-style restaurant, was on his way to dine with his pregnant niece at the time of the incident.
