Uniontown Shooting: Woman Killed, Suspect Charged with Homicide

Uniontown, Pennsylvania – A tragic shooting outside Something Different bar in Uniontown on Sunday night resulted in the death of one woman and the injury of another. The Uniontown police have charged 21-year-old Andrew Maurice Howard with homicide, aggravated assault, and prohibited possession of a firearm in connection to the incident. Howard, currently hospitalized with a gunshot wound, has not yet been arraigned.

Authorities were summoned to the bar on Austin Street around 9:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Court records indicate that Howard is accused of shooting Shaquisa Sims and Jasmine Johnson. Sims, 32, succumbed to her injuries at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker. Baker confirmed Sims’ cause of death as a gunshot wound, ruling it a homicide.

According to witnesses, Howard was identified as the perpetrator of the shooting. Johnson, 29, sustained a gunshot wound to her left wrist and is described in court records as Howard’s girlfriend. Police located three 9mm shell casings at the scene. After fleeing on foot initially, Howard later arrived at Uniontown Hospital with a gunshot wound, though the circumstances surrounding his own injury remain unclear.
