UTRGV Baseball Dominates URI Rams with 15-1 Victory: Series Win Secured

Edinburg, Texas – The UTRGV baseball team celebrated a 15-1 victory over the Rhode Island (URI) Rams, clinching a 2-1 series win at UTRGV Baseball Stadium on Monday.

Senior Zach Tjelmeland made an impressive comeback after three years, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out seven while only allowing one run. The bullpen also shined, with strong performances from Nico Rodriguez, Mason Kosowick, and Anthony Tejada.

The Vaqueros’ offense was led by junior Steven Lancia, who went 5-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Grad student CJ Valdez also made an impact, going 2-for-3 with a home run and six RBIs.

The Rams initially tied the game in the third inning, but the Vaqueros quickly responded by scoring five runs and continued to dominate with strong batting performances.
