3-month-old baby boy in Georgia dies alone in motel of starvation as 21-year-old father leaves him alone

COLLEGE PARK, GA – In a tragic turn of events, a Georgia man has been accused of abandoning his 3-month-old son, who was found dead in a hotel room earlier this year. Jerry Chambers Jr., 21, was arrested following the discovery of his infant son Joshua’s lifeless body in a grim scenario that has shocked the local community.

Authorities say that Chambers informed police he discovered his son unresponsive and frothing at the mouth in the hotel room where the family was staying.

Chambers claimed he attempted to revive the infant, yet his efforts were reportedly unsuccessful. Despite the dire situation, he purportedly left the hotel for work, raising serious questions about his actions.

Court documents reveal further disturbing details, indicating that Chambers did not seek emergency assistance upon finding his son in distress. Instead, he allegedly went to another hotel with a friend, neglecting to call 911 over the two-day period that followed.

Investigators allege that Chambers subsequently returned to find Joshua in the same state and, shockingly, chose to pack a bag rather than seek help or render aid.

It wasn’t until after the police found the infant deceased that they took Chambers into custody on January 28, charging him with murder and cruelty to children.

The autopsy results, recently disclosed, shed light on the heartbreaking circumstances of Joshua’s death. The Fulton County Medical Examiner determined that the baby succumbed to “dehydration and undernourishment due to infant neglect,” ruling the death as a homicide.

Currently, Chambers is being held in the Fulton County Jail. Bail is set at $150,000 as he faces charges that have left a profound sense of sorrow and incredulity over the apparent neglect that led to such a tragic end. The case continues to unfold as both investigators and the community grapple with the shocking loss and the path to justice.
