NASHVILLE, TN – Heartbreak and shock swept through the Nashville community after a revered high school teacher and her husband were found dead in their home on Sunday in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide.
Officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department responded early Sunday morning to a shooting at a condominium in the city. Inside, they discovered the bodies of Amina “Anna” Pierce, 30, and her husband, Steven Pierce, 46. Authorities say a revolver was found beneath Steven Pierce at the scene.
According to the initial police investigation, the deaths appear to have resulted from a domestic dispute that escalated into a murder-suicide. Investigators revealed the couple had reportedly been arguing over issues related to divorce and finances prior to the fatal shooting.
Anna Pierce was celebrated in the Nashville community for her devotion as a biology teacher at Hunters Lane High School. Known for her passion for teaching and her commitment to her students’ success, Pierce had just completed her seventh year at the school and also served as a tennis coach, helping expand the school’s athletic programs.
