Andre Davis shot and killed 5 years ago in East Austin Park still unsolved – family pleads for help

AUSTIN, Texas – Almost five years have passed since the tragic death of Andre Davis, known as “Big Dre”, who was shot and killed during a robbery in an East Austin park. The case has gone cold, leaving his family desperate for answers.

Davis was playing dominoes at Givens Park on East 12th Street when he was robbed and fatally shot, despite complying with the perpetrator’s demands. His sister, Arbor Davis, fondly remembers her brother’s presence at the park, where a mural now honors him. She described the park as one of his favorite places to be and finds comfort in feeling his presence there.

The community has come together to remember Davis, releasing orange balloons for gun violence awareness and pleading for anyone with information to come forward. Despite an arrest being made in May 2019, the charge was eventually dropped, leaving the case unsolved.

Arbor Davis, along with the rest of her family, is urging anyone with information to reach out to the APD Cold Case Unit or anonymously submit a tip through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. They are seeking closure and justice for their beloved Dre, emphasizing that they are not angry but simply want to keep his name alive and uplift his memory.
