Arrest Made in Harris County Capital Murder Case: Jose Plata Charged in the Deaths of Two Teens

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Jose Plata has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder in the deaths of two teenagers on Jan. 31. The victims, Edgar Campos-Bonilla and Davis Caballero, both 18, were allegedly shot and killed by Plata while driving near Spring according to Harris County authorities.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that the two teens were found dead inside a vehicle after deputies responded to reports of a crash in the 5900 block of Paloma Drive. The car had run off the roadway, and both victims were unresponsive and had suffered from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead on the scene.

Nearby residents reported hearing gunshots before the crash. Plata was taken into custody and is currently being booked into the Harris County Jail.
