Arrest Made in Murder of Dallas Teacher’s Aide

MESQUITE, Texas – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection to the death of a Dallas ISD teacher’s aide. The Mesquite Police took 34-year-old Sixto Banegas Matute into custody on Wednesday, Jan. 10, for the murder of Jennifer Mendez Olascoaga.

Olascoaga, 24, was last seen leaving a mobile home park along Highway 175 in Seagoville on September 27 at approximately 8:11 p.m. Her car was discovered abandoned the next morning on Sept. 28 without her purse or phone on Lawson Road.

Following the discovery of human remains near I-20 in Mesquite in October, the remains were positively identified as Olascoaga’s last November. The Dallas County ME’s Office ruled her death as a homicide.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, with Mesquite Police continuing to gather evidence and pursue leads in the case.

The arrest of Matute is a crucial development in the case, bringing authorities one step closer to seeking justice for Olascoaga and her loved ones. The community awaits further updates from law enforcement as the investigation progresses.
