Hunt for Serial Killer ‘Bible John’ Leads to Exhumation of Body amid Fears of More Victims

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – The hunt for a notorious serial killer known as ‘Bible John’ has led to the exhumation of a body, raising concerns that he may have claimed the lives of additional victims. The killer is believed to have murdered three young women between 1968 and 1969, but has never been caught.

The case revolves around three victims, including Patricia Docker, a 25-year-old nurse who was found yards away from her home in Langside Place on February 13, 1968. Another victim, Jemima McDonald, a 31-year-old mother of three, was discovered in an old tenement building on Mackeith Street in Bridgeton on August 15, 1969. The third victim, Helen Puttock, was found dead later that same year in October, with her body dumped in her own back garden.

The killer, who targeted young women at Glasgow’s famous Barrowland Ballroom, was dubbed ‘Bible John’ due to his habit of quoting verses from the Bible and condemning adultery. This religious association led to intense speculation and an investigation that resulted in several potential suspects and a slew of macabre clues.

Despite intense speculation at the time, several potential suspects, including a fairground worker from Glasgow and a relative of a senior police officer, were cleared of any involvement in the killings. However, new claims suggest that ‘Bible John’ may have been responsible for the death of a fourth woman in the south of England.

The murders remain unresolved, but police have assured the public that any new information about the deaths will be thoroughly investigated. The case continues to haunt the families of the victims and cast a dark shadow over the city of Glasgow.
