Arrested Woman Now Charged in Violent Broad Ripple Assault with New Evidence Uncovered

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA – A woman accused of robbery and vandalism in Indianapolis has been charged in connection with a violent attack outside a Broad Ripple grocery store, which occurred just two days after the original incidents.

Denise Honorio, a 34-year-old Indianapolis woman, was arrested earlier this month on charges of robbery, battery, and vandalism causing over $50,000 in damages. The incidents took place downtown, with Honorio being accused of attacking a hospital worker and spray painting over 50 cars in a parking garage off Washington Street.

Days prior to her arrest, police were called to the assault of a shopper in a Fresh Thyme parking lot, a crime now believed to have been committed by Honorio as well.

The initial arrest charges Honorio faced stem from the mass vandalism and robbery that occurred on February 2. Video footage showed a woman, identified as Honorio, sprayed a line alongside the doors of parked cars in the parking garage, causing extensive damage. Days later, police located her wearing the same clothes as the suspect seen in the vandalism video.

During their investigation, police discovered that Honorio had also been involved in a violent attack outside a Broad Ripple grocery store. The incident resulted in severe injuries to the victim, who suffered a broken hip and broken elbow. Surveillance footage identified the suspect as a 5’9″ tall Hispanic woman, matching Honorio’s description.

As the investigation continued, police obtained a warrant to search Honorio’s apartment and found that her clothing matched those worn by the suspect in the violent attack. They also discovered that she had been using IndyGo for transportation, and surveillance footage captured the attack suspect getting off an IndyGo bus near her apartment.

With the evidence compiled, Honorio was charged in the Broad Ripple assault and now faces an additional count of felony 3 aggravated battery. Her initial hearing in the assault case has been scheduled, and a jury trial for the downtown robbery and vandalism is set to begin in April.

If convicted of the aggravated battery in the Broad Ripple assault, Honorio could face up to 16 years in prison.
