Longford, Ireland – A man has been taken into custody and charged in connection to a violent assault on a woman in Longford town last year. The incident occurred at the Mall in Longford town at approximately 2:30 am on August 7, leaving the victim, a woman in her 50s, with serious facial injuries. Following the arrest of a male in his 30s, he appeared before Athlone District Court on January 3, 2024, in connection with the investigation. The alleged assailant was described as being in his early 30s, approximately 5’6 to 5’7 in height, of broad or heavy build with a square face.
