Baker Woman Fights Off Robber to Protect Hard-Earned Christmas Money

HOUSTON, Texas – A 32-year-old Houston woman is hesitant to leave her secure gated apartment complex after a terrifying encounter with a would-be robber. The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation, expressed feeling traumatized and unable to walk with peace of mind as she did before the incident.

The harrowing ordeal took place at a bakery in the Bissonnet and Fondren area, just two days before Christmas. The victim recounted noticing a suspicious man outside the bakery, which soon escalated into a violent confrontation captured by surveillance footage. The video showed the man attacking her behind the bakery counter, relentlessly attempting to snatch her purse while repeatedly striking her.

Despite her bag containing money she had worked hard to earn for her children’s Christmas gifts, the victim refused to surrender it to the assailant. The struggle left her with bruises, minor cuts, and a significant bump on her head, requiring medical treatment at the hospital.

Fortunately, two male customers intervened, prompting the suspect to flee the scene. However, he later returned and attempted to break down the bakery’s locked door with a baseball bat. The Houston Police Department is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the robber. Any relevant information can be reported to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
