San Antonio – A violent confrontation outside a North Side bar escalated into a shooting that left two men dead, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Friday that 31-year-old Carlos Claros died from gunshot wounds, marking his death as a homicide.
On Wednesday, investigators also identified Guillermo Serrano Jr., 45, as one of the deceased. Authorities responded to a report of gunfire at approximately 5:30 a.m. on June 8, outside LUNA Live Music Bar, situated at 6740 San Pedro Avenue.
When police arrived, they discovered a man in his 40s or 50s already deceased at the scene. Another man was found with life-threatening injuries and subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. The relationship between the two victims remains unclear, as does the precise sequence of events that led to the fatal incident.
Witnesses indicated that a dispute began in the bar’s parking lot, reportedly involving a group of women, with police suspecting the two men may have exchanged gunfire. However, authorities later revealed that the suspected shooter fled the scene prior to their arrival, complicating the investigation.
Police have yet to release information regarding whether the victims were patrons of the bar at the time of the shooting. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission stated an inquiry into the incident is underway. This investigation will not only look into the circumstances surrounding the shooting but will also delve into prior allegations concerning the bar, including claims of allowing alcohol consumption during prohibited hours.
No significant findings have emerged from either investigation thus far, and authorities continue to seek additional information from witnesses to clarify the incident. As the focus shifts to unraveling the complex details surrounding this tragedy, the community grapples with the implications of violence spilling into local venues.
