EDGEWATER, MD – The death of Wilson Estuardo Marroquin Caceros has left his family devastated and searching for answers after authorities say he was killed just weeks after listing a friend as the beneficiary of his life insurance policy.
Caceros, 29, was found dead on Aug. 18, 2025, in a Baltimore neighborhood, miles away from the Edgewater residence he had last visited. Police say he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. His killing has shaken the local community and those who knew him as a devoted father and hard-working provider.
Investigators began piecing together the hours before Caceros’ death, focusing on the events at a short-term rental along Fullerton Road in Edgewater, near the South River. Police believe Caceros met that day with Bryan Alberto Cazares, 28, who had recently been named as beneficiary to a $300,000 life insurance policy once held by Caceros’ immediate relatives.
Court documents detail how Caceros’ family was unaware of the beneficiary change until after his death. His wife told detectives that the policy had previously supported loved ones, making the switch to Cazares—identified as an acquaintance—suspicious.
Authorities say the investigation led them back to the Edgewater rental, where the homeowner reported finding blood stains throughout the home after her guests checked out. She also noticed all towels and a mop were missing. When she reached out to recoup cleaning costs, payment allegedly arrived from Bryan Cazares via a digital bank transfer.
Caceros’ body was discovered late at night on Manokin Street, Baltimore—over 20 miles from Edgewater. Police believe he was transported there in his wife’s red Jeep Cherokee, which was seen on security footage in the area where the body was left.
Detectives obtained warrants to track Cazares’ cellphone, finding that its movements matched the path of the victim’s jeep the night of the murder. When confronted with this evidence, Cazares reportedly denied being with Caceros on the day in question and subsequently refused to cooperate further, according to investigators.
Anne Arundel County Police arrested Cazares, who is being held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on charges including first- and second-degree murder.
To those who knew Caceros, the loss is profound. A GoFundMe page, believed to have been organized by the mother of his child, describes him as a loving father who worked tirelessly to support his family and ensure their well-being.
Authorities have not disclosed any further motive or details about the insurance beneficiary change, but continue to build their case as they seek justice for Caceros. The crime remains under investigation as detectives work to piece together the full extent of Caceros’ final days.
