Boyfriend backs over 21-year-old pregnant Ohio woman during argument

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH – The life of 21-year-old Stephanie Householder and her unborn child was cut tragically short last summer following a fatal incident at Broadway Wharf. As friends and family continue to grapple with her loss, authorities have pressed serious charges against the man accused of causing her death.

Householder was pregnant when her life ended in the late evening hours of July 19, 2025. According to investigators, an argument took place between Householder and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Cameron Martin, resulting in Householder exiting their vehicle in the parking lot of the popular local wharf along the Ohio River.

Shortly after she left the car, a 911 call alerted local police to the scene, stating that a woman had been struck by a vehicle. Officers arriving at the waterfront found Householder on the pavement, just in front of her car, with Martin nearby. Emergency medical crews responded quickly, and Householder was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital in a desperate attempt to save her and her unborn baby.

Doctors pronounced both Householder and her unborn child dead soon after their arrival at the hospital. The double loss has left the East Liverpool community in mourning, with many expressing grief for the vibrant young woman many described as kindhearted and full of promise.

Prosecutors allege that Martin was operating the vehicle in a reckless manner, causing the death of both Householder and her unborn child. A grand jury indictment includes two counts each of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated vehicular homicide. Court documents also say the incident brought about the unlawful termination of Householder’s pregnancy.

Investigators emphasized that the couple’s dispute escalated shortly before the incident, which ultimately left Householder fatally injured. Authorities noted that Martin was attempting to leave the parking area in reverse when Householder was struck, though details regarding his intent are still under examination.

On the anniversary of Householder’s death, Martin returned to the same parking lot where the tragedy occurred, planning a candlelight vigil in her memory. However, heightened emotions turned the gathering tense, and the event was soon dispersed by authorities after conflicts arose between attendees.

Martin was arrested over the weekend and remains in custody at the Columbiana County Detention Center on $100,000 bond. His arraignment before Common Pleas Judge Scott Washam is scheduled for February 26.

Householder’s friends and relatives have expressed hopes for answers and justice as the case proceeds through the court system, underscoring the deep impact her loss has left on loved ones and the wider community. As legal proceedings continue, the memory of Stephanie Householder—and the life she hoped to bring into the world—remains at the heart of the tragedy.
