Brooklyn home invasion suspect at large, suspect in custody following violent attack

NEW YORK (AP) — Police in Brooklyn have apprehended a suspect in a violent home invasion that occurred on February 2, 2024, where one man was Tasered and another was shot multiple times. The search is still ongoing for a second perpetrator involved in the robbery, which took place in a home on the 700 block of 52nd Street in Sunset Park.

According to law enforcement sources, two individuals entered the location and confronted two men aged 41 and 53. They proceeded to display weapons and demand money. One of the suspects, identified as Chaoxin Tan, 21, of Quincy, MA, then used a Taser on the 53-year-old man, while the other suspect shot the 41-year-old man multiple times in the shoulder and leg.

The suspects stole over $4,100 in cash from the location before fleeing in an unknown direction. Both victims were rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and were listed in stable condition.

Chaoxin Tan was apprehended on the morning of February 2 and charged with attempted murder, three counts of robbery and assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. However, his alleged cohort remains at large. He is described as a man with a light complexion who wore a black bubble coat, black pants, and dark-colored sneakers.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the second suspect to come forward and call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted online or via Twitter, and all reports are kept confidential.
