Brute Jailed for Violent Attack on Partner in East Kilbride

EAST KILBRIDE, Scotland – A man has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for assaulting his partner in East Kilbride. Christopher Meikle, 32, appeared in Hamilton Sheriff Court from custody and admitted to assaulting the woman and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards her at a house in Trinidad Way on July 30, last year.

According to the court, Meikle shouted and swore at the woman before chasing her outside. After catching her, he pressed his head against hers, shoved her, and then dragged her along the ground, kicking her in the process. The assault also involved him pulling her hair, tugging at her handbag, and ripping her clothing.

As part of his sentence, Meikle was handed a five-year non-harassment order, preventing him from any contact with the woman. He also admitted to subjecting police officers to sexual comments and threats after his arrest. The jail term was backdated as Meikle has been in custody since his initial court appearance on July 31.
