Calgary Mother Urges Community to Come Forward with Information on Teen Daughter’s Unsolved Murder

CALGARY, ALBERTA – The mother of a teenage murder victim in Calgary is making a public plea for anyone with information about her daughter’s death to come forward.

Fifteen-year-old Sarah Alexis Jorquera was shot in an alley in the 300 block of Martindale Drive N.E. at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28. She was in the front passenger seat of a vehicle at the time, and the driver was not injured. Authorities say the shooting was targeted, but it was a tragic case of mistaken identity.

Andrea Heon, Jorquera’s mother, shared that their family has been deeply affected by her daughter’s death. She described Jorquera as an amazing person with a huge heart who loved music and animals, and she is uncertain if they will ever see justice for her daughter’s murder.

Police continue to investigate the case, emphasizing that it is still very active. According to Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson from the Calgary Police Service’s homicide unit, despite the complexity of the case, investigators are determined to gather evidence and seek justice for the victim.

As of the latest update, nine of Calgary’s 21 homicides from 2023 remain unsolved, including Jorquera’s death. Gregson encouraged anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward. He stressed the importance of even the smallest piece of information, emphasizing that it could lead to a breakthrough in the case.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234, or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
