Catskill Man Faces Animal Cruelty Charges after Donkey, Horse and Mini-Horse Found Neglected on Property

CATSKILL, N.Y. – A man from Catskill is facing charges of animal cruelty. Last month, State Police and the Columbia-Greene Humane Society removed a donkey, a horse, and a mini-horse from a property located at 4880 Route 32. The property was previously known as the Friar Tuck Inn and Resort. All three animals were found to be underweight and dehydrated, with the donkey also having two cuts on its neck.

The owner of the property, 57-year-old Li Binghui, could potentially face up to a year in jail if convicted. The animals’ condition prompted the authorities to take action decisively. The severity of the charges reflects the seriousness of the situation and the need to ensure the welfare of animals.

It is crucial to address cases of animal cruelty and neglect to prevent further harm to innocent animals. This incident sheds light on the importance of responsible animal care and the legal consequences for failing to uphold that responsibility. The intervention by the State Police and the Columbia-Greene Humane Society underscores the commitment to protecting and advocating for the well-being of animals in the community.

The three animals, suffering from neglect and mistreatment, were fortunate to be rescued and provided with the necessary care and attention. The property owner’s potential jail time serves as a reminder of the legal repercussions for acts of animal cruelty. Such cases serve as a testament to the authorities’ dedication to safeguarding the welfare of animals in the community.
