Custody dispute in Wisconsin leaves mother of 8 shot dead by her ex-boyfriend

MILWAUKEE, WI – A Milwaukee man admitted in court on Monday to fatally shooting his former partner after claiming that a demonic influence drove him to the act. Ronald Fuller, 53, pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless homicide in relation to the 2024 murder of LaKeyshia Timmons.

Authorities were alerted to the fatal shooting by a ShotSpotter report, indicating gunfire on Milwaukee’s north side. When police arrived around 7:30 a.m., they found Timmons suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators found nine shell casings scattered nearby.

According to court documents, one of Timmons’ sons witnessed the tragic incident. He reported waking to the sound of gunfire and seeing a man with a distinctive limp walking away from his mother’s body. Alarmingly, he realized the man was Fuller, whom he recognized from their family’s past.

Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators showed Fuller lurking near Timmons’ residence before the shooting. The video revealed a confrontation between Timmons and Fuller as she returned home. Confrontational words were exchanged as Timmons implored Fuller to stop, calling him by his name and reminding him of their familial connection.

Fuller, who shares three children with Timmons, later confessed to authorities. During an interrogation, he admitted to the shooting but claimed no understanding of his actions, attributing them to an external malevolent force.

The tragedy unfolded amidst a fraught custody battle between Timmons and Fuller, which may have contributed to the tension. A family member later disclosed that Timmons had tried to secure protection from Fuller, but her efforts were in vain.

The violent end to Timmons’ life leaves eight children to cope with the loss of their mother. Her daughter, Latanilia Timmons, started a GoFundMe campaign to shed light on the domestic abuse her mother suffered at Fuller’s hands and to garner support for the family.

Fuller’s sentencing is scheduled for May, where he will face the consequences of his actions. The community continues to mourn the loss of Timmons, remembering her as a devoted mother and seeking justice for the violence that took her life.
