Dallas Man Pleads Guilty to 2022 Murder Over Basketball Game, Receives 20-Year Sentence

Dallas, Texas – A Dallas man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of a 21-year-old woman over an argument at a pick-up basketball game in 2022. Cameron Hogg, 32, shot Asia Womack after the two got into a dispute at a park in South Dallas, according to Dallas police.

Court documents revealed that after the argument, Asia left the park and was sitting outside watching football with a friend when Hogg drove up. He got out of the car without saying a word and shot Asia twice in the chest, then two more times as she was falling, before leaving the scene.

The victim impact statements are scheduled to take place, giving Womack’s family an opportunity to directly address Hogg. Family members expressed their dissatisfaction with Hogg’s plea deal, with Asia’s mother describing it as a “slap in the face.” She stated that it implied her daughter’s life was only worth 20 years.

The plea deal for Hogg’s sentencing has sparked outrage and disappointment among Womack’s loved ones. They believe that justice has not been fully served for Asia’s untimely death and are preparing to make their voices heard during the victim impact statements.
