Deaths linked to Fentanyl Poisoning Investigated by Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. – The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating several deaths in the Cheraw area, which they believe are linked to fentanyl poisoning. Captain Wayne Jordan has confirmed that the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, Chesterfield County Coroner, Lancaster County Coroner, and State Law Enforcement Division are all working together to determine the source of the drugs.

Sheriff Campbo Streater has issued a warning to the public, urging them not to touch or ingest any substance they suspect may contain fentanyl and to contact law enforcement immediately. Streater emphasized the presence of deadly drugs in Chesterfield County and urged people to exercise caution.

In response to the recent incidents, Streater has formed a task force to collaborate with neighboring counties in investigating drug overdoses. He emphasized the need to track the source of fentanyl entering the region and emphasized the lack of respect for boundaries by drug dealers.
