DETROIT, MI – In a chilling case that has shocked the Detroit community, a 68-year-old man is facing murder charges after allegedly attacking his wife with a plastic sword and a pair of pliers, officials said.
Timothy Morgan has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his 67-year-old wife, Kathryn Morgan. The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of May 4 at their home in Detroit, authorities confirmed.
Officers from the Detroit Police Department responded to a call regarding a stabbing around 4:30 a.m. When they arrived at the scene on Conley Street, they discovered Kathryn Morgan’s body in the living room, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her back and head, police reported.
The Wayne County State’s Attorney’s Office, which announced the charges against Timothy Morgan, stated that the unusual choice of weapons—a plastic sword and pliers—were believed to have been used in the brutal assault. The investigation revealed that the plastic sword was used to inflict several stab wounds.
Timothy Morgan turned himself in at the Detroit Police Department’s 11th Precinct shortly after the attack, where he was subsequently taken into custody. He is currently being held without bond at the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center.
Despite the arrest and charges, officials have not disclosed any potential motive behind the violent act, leaving many in the community searching for answers.
The legal proceedings in this case began with an arraignment earlier this week. Timothy Morgan is expected to return to court on May 16 for a probable cause hearing, followed by a preliminary examination set for May 22, the State’s Attorney’s Office stated.
This tragic incident has left neighbors and family grappling with the loss and seeking justice for Kathryn Morgan. As the case unfolds, the community awaits further details.
