Georgia woman dumps pot of hot chicken grease on her boyfriend

LAGRANGE, GA – A woman in Georgia faces serious charges after an alleged assault involving hot grease at a local motel, according to LaGrange authorities.

Police say 43-year-old Olympia Denise Laster is accused of pouring hot grease on her boyfriend during a dispute. The incident took place at the Stay Lodge motel on Whitesville Street shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, in LaGrange, a town about 65 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Responding officers found the scene of what law enforcement described as a domestic dispute. They reported that Laster allegedly poured hot chicken grease on her boyfriend, causing significant injuries. The victim, a 46-year-old man, suffered severe burns to his head, neck, back, and shoulders, authorities stated. He is currently receiving treatment at an Atlanta-area hospital that specializes in burn injuries.

While the exact reason for the altercation remains unclear, investigators have not yet determined whether the confrontation was physical or verbal in nature. Additionally, officials have not disclosed any specific motivations behind the attack.

The case is currently under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department’s criminal investigation division. At this stage, Laster is being held at Troup County Jail without the possibility of bond. Her charges include one count of aggravated battery with family violence.

Court records indicate that Laster has been involved with the legal system before. She previously faced charges of criminal trespass with family violence, to which she pleaded no contest in April. Moreover, she pled guilty to a DUI charge in the previous year.

As proceedings continue, the formal docketing of her current case is yet to appear on the public court system website. The police department is in the process of handling ongoing requests for more details about this incident.

The troubling incident underscores the complexities law enforcement officers face when dealing with cases of domestic disputes, highlighting the need for thorough investigations to understand and address the underlying issues effectively.
