CLINTON, SC – The Clinton Police Department has announced the identification and euthanization of the dogs involved in the violent attack on an 11-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Wednesday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and community members. The department is now actively seeking the owners of the dogs in an effort to address and resolve animal control issues within the city.
According to the CPD, officers were called to Livingston Street in Clinton after a neighbor witnessed four dogs mauling the young boy at his bus stop. The neighbor intervened, beating the dogs off the child before the police arrived. The boy was treated for serious injuries on the scene and later airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital. Commander Crystal Roberts stated that the child will require extensive surgery and therapy for his injuries.
Upon investigation, the dogs were successfully captured after crossing in front of a firetruck. Clinton Police Chief Sonny Ledda visited the family and reported that the young boy is facing a long road to recovery. However, the family expressed their gratitude to the neighbor and first responders for their swift actions, which ultimately led to a better outcome for the child.
