Firefighters Battle Massive Blaze in Fairfax County’s Wakefield Area, No Injuries Reported

Fairfax County, Virginia – Dozens of firefighters rushed to extinguish a massive fire that consumed a residence in the Wakefield area early Monday morning. Initial reports from concerned neighbors hinted at an explosion preceding the flames that ravaged the home on Ann Fitz Hugh Drive. Authorities, however, indicated no evidence of an explosion upon arrival at the scene.

The first emergency calls regarding the fire came in around 4 a.m., with some witnesses describing a powerful blast that reverberated through the neighborhood. Deputy Chief Greg Hunter of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue team mentioned that the severity of the fire prompted the declaration of a second alarm. Firefighters were compelled to evacuate the premises and combat the inferno externally, ultimately gaining control of the situation before 5:30 a.m. Fortunately, no firefighters sustained injuries during the course of battling the flames.
