FLOOD WATCH: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware from Saturday through Sunday

Wilmington, Delaware – A flood watch remains in effect for various areas across Delaware, New Jersey, and southeastern Pennsylvania from late tonight through Sunday morning. The National Weather Service warns of possible flooding due to excessive rainfall.

The affected areas include Delaware Beaches, Inland Sussex, Kent and New Castle in Delaware; Atlantic, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Camden, Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, Coastal Ocean, Cumberland, and more in New Jersey; as well as Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lower Bucks, Philadelphia, and Western Chester in southeast Pennsylvania.

Heavy rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected, starting late tonight and continuing through Saturday evening, with the possibility of even higher amounts in localized areas. This excessive runoff may cause rivers, creeks, and streams to rise, with flooding potentially persisting through Sunday.

Residents are advised to stay alert for possible Flood Warnings and take necessary precautions if flooding occurs, especially those living in flood-prone areas. Low-lying and urban regions are particularly vulnerable to flooding.

The ongoing flood watch highlights the importance of monitoring weather forecasts and being prepared for emergencies. Rising waters in rivers, creeks, and streams could lead to hazardous conditions, emphasizing the need for vigilance and readiness in the affected areas.

It is crucial for residents to stay informed about the evolving weather situation and follow any instructions or warnings issued by local authorities. By staying proactive and informed, individuals can better protect themselves and their communities from the potential risks associated with excessive rainfall and flooding.
