ORLANDO, FL – Over a year has passed since the tragic death of a Florida woman, Porshe Streeter, who was fatally shot while sleeping next to her three children in her Orlando home. Authorities have recently arrested her boyfriend and father of her children, Saun Rainge Jr., in connection with the murder, which initially appeared to be a home invasion on January 13, 2024.
According to law enforcement officials, Benjamin Garmon has also been taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the murder, acting upon instructions from Rainge.
The incident unfolded when Rainge, who was present during the shooting, called 911 to report that his girlfriend had been shot. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Rainge with a gunshot wound to his arm, claiming an attacker had followed him into their apartment and had shot Streeter as she attempted to reach for her phone.
Initially, Rainge portrayed himself as a bystander who had narrowly escaped death. He told police that he attempted to seek help but stayed to assist Streeter at the insistence of their son, urging her to “keep fighting.”
However, discrepancies in Rainge’s account raised suspicion among investigators. Critical evidence contradicted his version of events, including witness statements and security footage which suggested that Streeter had been killed approximately two hours before Rainge made the 911 call.
A detailed investigation further complicated Rainge’s narrative. The affidavit pointed to the timeline inconsistencies backed by the medical examiner’s findings, which indicated early signs of decomposition on Streeter’s body, hinting at her death occurring well before Rainge’s call to emergency services.
Text messages between Rainge and Streeter suggested he was not supposed to be at the residence at the time of the shooting, adding another layer of doubt to his claims.
Their ten-year-old child provided a description of Garmon that matched security footage, which was pivotal in identifying Garmon as a suspect. Both Rainge and Garmon have since been charged with first-degree murder.
Details surrounding the pleas of Rainge and Garmon are not clear at this time, as online court records did not reveal further information and inquiries made to the public defender’s office remained unanswered as of the latest updates.
Community members and those following the case are left to ponder this tragic event, as the investigation continues to unveil the unsettling details behind what was initially perceived as a random act of violence but has since unraveled into a more complex scenario involving betrayal and orchestrated crime.
