Florida Man Charged with Murder in Case of Missing Teen Madeline Soto

Kissimmee, Florida – A man arrested in connection with the disappearance and death of his girlfriend’s teenage daughter now faces first-degree murder charges. Stephan Sterns, 38, was officially charged with murder after the body of 13-year-old Madeline Soto was found, indicating that Sterns allegedly killed Soto between February 25 and February 27. The Kissimmee Police Chief, Betty Holland, revealed that evidence suggests Sterns made strategic moves to dispose of Soto’s belongings and hide her body before she was reported missing.

Sterns, initially taken into custody on unrelated charges, was labeled the “prime suspect” in Soto’s disappearance in February. Investigations revealed disturbing images and videos of a criminal and sexual nature on Sterns’ phone, leading to additional charges including sexual battery and possession of child sexual abuse material. Court documents suggest that Sterns may have been abusing Soto for years prior to her disappearance and death.

Despite Sterns being the only individual charged thus far in the case, the investigation is ongoing, with authorities remaining vigilant. Sterns was reportedly the last person to see Soto before she went missing and was later found dead. The decision regarding the potential pursuit of the death penalty for Sterns is still under consideration, according to State Attorney Andrew Bain.

Sterns, currently held in the Osceola County Jail without bond, awaits further legal proceedings. The case continues to unfold as authorities work diligently to seek justice for the tragic death of Madeline Soto.
