CANYON COUNTY, Idaho – A string of fatal car accidents over the weekend has left Idaho residents reeling from the tragic loss of life and injuries sustained.
The Idaho State Police reported four fatalities, including a juvenile in Canyon County and two adults in a separate Canyon County crash. Additionally, a male who was injured in a previous accident succumbed to his injuries over the weekend. Five people were also reported injured and receiving medical attention at hospitals due to crashes on Idaho roads.
Among the incidents, one involved a juvenile driver from Melba, Idaho, who failed to stop at a stop sign at an intersection, colliding with another vehicle. The juvenile, who was not wearing a seatbelt, tragically lost their life at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger were taken to the hospital. The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
In a separate accident, two adults lost their lives in a collision between a dump truck and a pickup truck pulling a trailer. The crash occurred on US20/26 near milepost 18 in Canyon County. The drivers of both vehicles, one from Caldwell and the other from Nampa, tragically did not survive the collision. The driver of the dump truck was not wearing his seatbelt, while the driver of the pickup truck was.
Moreover, the Idaho State Police provided an update on a previous injury accident, revealing that the driver involved had passed away from his injuries sustained in a head-on collision with a semi-truck on US12.
Other accidents on Saturday evening resulted in injuries to occupants of vehicles, with one involving a collision with a parked train due to a failure to yield at a stop sign. Another incident saw a police officer and a detainee in the back seat being struck by an elderly driver on US95 in Fruitland. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
