Gas Leak Suspected in House Explosion that Killed Four in Michigan

WHITMORE LAKE, Michigan – A tragic incident has left four people dead in a house explosion in Washtenaw County, Michigan. Police have ruled out foul play as the cause of the blast, which occurred on Saturday. The victims, an Arkansas couple and their two adult children, were visiting Michigan for the holidays when the explosion took place.

Authorities identified the victims as 51-year-old Hope Bragg, 53-year-old Don Bragg, 22-year-old Kenneth Bragg, and 19-year-old Elizabeth Bragg. The explosion completely leveled the home, leaving 16-year-old Stephen Bragg in stable condition and Hope’s father, Richard Pruden, in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation suggests that a gas leak from an unknown location triggered the explosion. The incident left a debris field covering approximately two acres, causing nearby residents to compare the sound to that of a war zone.

A vigil for the victims and their families is scheduled to take place at Whitmore Lake High School in Michigan. The explosion, which occurred at around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, resulted in three deaths on the scene and the hospitalization of three others. Unfortunately, one of those hospitalized later died in the hospital.

This devastating incident has left a community in mourning and authorities working to determine the exact cause of the gas leak that led to the explosion. The investigation is ongoing as the community comes together to support the families affected by this tragedy.
