Authorities allege that Thomas J. Anderson, 35, arrived at his estranged wife’s Palmetto Lane apartment around 4 a.m. and discovered 29-year-old Oscar David Barrios Mazariegos inside. The confrontation escalated, and moments later, gunshots shattered the pre-dawn stillness of the close-knit South Carolina community, which sits about 30 miles from Greenville.
According to law enforcement officials, Mazariegos attempted to escape the tense situation, heading to his vehicle in a bid for safety. However, Anderson purportedly pursued him outside, where a fatal outcome unfolded. Deputies later found Mazariegos in his car, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The county coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
