Las Vegas Police Search for Suspects in UNLV Shooting Victim’s Home Burglary

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Las Vegas police are on the lookout for the individuals responsible for breaking into the home of one of the victims of a fatal shooting at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas last month. Naoko Takemaru, an associate professor of Japanese studies at the university, was one of three instructors killed in the December 6 shooting. The other victims were Jerry Cha-Jan Chang, a business professor, and Patricia Navarro-Velez, an assistant professor of accounting. A visiting professor was also seriously injured in the attack.

According to a report by Fox affiliate KVVU, a neighbor witnessed a woman leaving Takemaru’s home with multiple items and covering her face. The woman then got into a car with two men wearing face coverings. Police were alerted to the burglary when the neighbor reported the suspicious activity.

The fatal shooting of the three UNLV instructors and the injuring of another visiting professor have left the university community devastated. The shooter was killed during the attack following a shootout with the police.
