Man Charged in Atkinson County Homicide Case – Arrest Made in Connection to Deadly Shooting

Axson, Georgia – A Pearson resident finds himself facing charges in connection to a homicide investigation in Atkinson County. The Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office sought assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on Tuesday, April 30, in response to reports of an unresponsive man found in a car in Axson.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene on Wright Lane, where they discovered the lifeless body of Johan Romero, 27, inside a vehicle, with fatal gunshot wounds, as stated by the GBI. Subsequent investigations and interviews eventually led to the apprehension of Pablo Miranda, 32, on Wednesday, May 1, in connection to Romero’s death. Miranda now faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault, and is currently detained at the Atkinson County Jail.

Authorities anticipate more arrests as the investigation progresses. Notably, both the victim and the suspect were reported to be residing in the country illegally, according to an official statement cited by WALB.
